Requirements for the PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty Course:
For this course students must be a minimum 10 years of age and have completed the Open Water Diver certification.
Structure of the PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty Course:
The PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty Course provides a comprehensive exploration of marine ecosystems and biodiversity, aiming to deepen divers’ understanding of the underwater world. To start, students will receive the PADI Underwater Naturalist manual, providing all the knowledge needed to participate in this course. Students will begin with an introduction to marine biology and ecology, learning about different habitats and the interconnectedness of marine life within them. Through hands-on sessions, students will develop skills in identifying common marine species and observing their behaviour underwater. Students will gain an understanding of the roles of various species within marine ecosystems and the importance of conservation. Students explore threats to marine environments and learn how they can contribute to conservation efforts through responsible diving practices. Practical training includes citizen science initiatives, where divers learn data collection protocols and participate in underwater surveys. Upon completion of a final assessment, participants earn certification as PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty Divers by email from PADI, equipped with the knowledge and skills to appreciate and protect the rich diversity of marine life encountered during dives.
What is Included in the Underwater Naturalist Specialty Course:
The Underwater Naturalist Specialty Course includes the Underwater Naturalist Specialty manual, a class on theory with one of our highly trained instructors, 2 ocean scuba dives, dive computer, PADI registration and PADI certification. Our price does not include equipment, however we offer brand new rental equipment if needed. We also offer free Nitrox, if you do not have your Enriched Air (Nitrox) certification we offer the course if you are interested in diving with Nitrox.
