Training schedule: Flexible minimum two-week program. The individual plan is confirmed around instructor availability, the student’s progress and suitable real-world training opportunities.

A Professional-Diving Path for Young Divers

The PADI Junior Divemaster course in Playa del Carmen gives experienced divers aged 15-17 a structured way to develop leadership, dive knowledge and professional habits before they are eligible for adult Divemaster training.

Learn by Working With Real Instructors

Students refine core skills, practice briefings and site setup, work on rescue and stamina exercises and observe how Xico instructors organize real diving and training days. Everything is supervised and adapted to the student’s age and level.

Why Train at a Working Dive Center

A multi-week program makes more sense when the student sees actual dive-center operations rather than isolated exercises. Xico provides mentoring, facilities, boats and a varied training environment from local reefs to pool sessions.

The Next Step at Age 18

Junior Divemaster builds experience and confidence, but adult professional certification has its own age and completion requirements. When eligible, students can continue toward the full PADI Divemaster program with a much stronger practical foundation.

Who can join the PADI Junior Divemaster course?

The program is for divers aged 15-17 who hold Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications and have at least 20 logged dives. Xico also reviews current EFR/first-aid status and required youth participation paperwork before the program starts.

How long does Junior Divemaster training take?

Plan on a minimum of two weeks. The exact schedule is flexible and depends on the young diver’s progress, school or travel schedule, instructor availability and the practical experiences needed to complete the program.

Does Junior Divemaster make my child a dive professional?

It is a leadership-development program for ages 15-17, not a substitute for the adult professional Divemaster rating. It gives motivated young divers supervised experience and a stronger foundation before they are old enough for professional-level training.

Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?

Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.

Can I choose my course start date?

Send us your preferred start date. Xico will check the appropriate instructor, training schedule and any required training logistics before confirming the course. Start dates are flexible, but a website request is not an instant booking confirmation.

What paperwork is required for students under 18?

A parent or legal guardian must complete the required participation and medical paperwork for a minor. Age-specific PADI limits and supervision rules continue to apply after certification where relevant.
