Training schedule: Usually completed in about one day without required dives. Optional ocean dives are scheduled separately around boat availability and conditions.

Training logistics: No boat is required for the standard certification. Optional dives use normal Xico Playa del Carmen boat operations.

Schedule note: Start dates are available subject to instructor availability, student readiness and operational confirmation.

Certification requirements: Training is conducted and evaluated by an appropriately qualified instructor for the agency and course. Certification or recognition is issued only after the applicable course requirements are successfully completed.

PADI Nitrox Course in Playa del Carmen

The PADI Enriched Air Nitrox course is one of the most useful specialties for divers who do repetitive dives or multi-day dive trips. You learn how enriched air changes dive planning and how to use it safely rather than simply asking for a Nitrox tank.

Analyze the Tank and Set Your Computer Correctly

The practical work covers analyzing oxygen percentage, labeling/verification procedures, maximum operating depth, oxygen exposure and setting your dive computer for the actual mix. Those habits matter every time you use enriched air.

Certification Without Required Dives

PADI Nitrox does not normally require open-water training dives. That makes it easy to complete on a non-diving day or before a dive package. If you want practice immediately, Xico can add two Nitrox dives in Playa del Carmen.

A Smart Add-On for Frequent Divers

Nitrox can give more no-decompression flexibility on many recreational profiles, especially repetitive diving. It does not make the tank last longer or make deeper dives safer; the course teaches where enriched air is useful and where its oxygen limits matter.

Questions before you book?

Do I need training dives for the PADI Nitrox certification?

No. The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) course does not require training dives. The standard course includes the knowledge development and practical work needed for certification, including analyzing a Nitrox cylinder and setting your dive computer for the gas mix. If you would like to dive afterward, Xico can arrange Nitrox dives separately at the current dive rate.

Does Nitrox make my tank last longer or let me dive deeper?

No. Nitrox does not add gas to the cylinder and it does not extend your maximum depth. Its main recreational benefit is reduced nitrogen exposure, which can increase no-decompression limits on many suitable dive profiles. Oxygen exposure and maximum operating depth must still be respected.

What certification do I need for PADI Nitrox?

You need to be an Open Water Diver or be enrolled in a qualifying entry-level course according to PADI standards. Xico confirms your eligibility before issuing the course materials.

Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?

Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.

When should I complete the course eLearning?

When eLearning is part of the course, complete as much as possible before the first practical session. This protects your in-water training time and lets the instructor focus on questions, skills and application rather than basic theory.

Can I choose my course start date?

Send us your preferred start date. Xico will check the appropriate instructor, training schedule and any required training logistics before confirming the course. Start dates are flexible, but a website request is not an instant booking confirmation.
