See the ocean like never before with our 1-tank Night Dive in Playa del Carmen. As the sun sets, the reef comes to life in a completely different way. Watch nocturnal marine life come out and experience the underwater world after dark. Perfect for certified divers, this unique experience gives you the chance to spot eels leaving their caves, octopuses on the hunt, and even turtles peacefully sleeping. The timing of the dive will vary depending on the sunset, ensuring you get the full experience of the ocean after dark.

What to Expect:

  • Meet at Xico Dive Center – Check in, complete paperwork, and get fitted for equipment.
  • Boat Ride to Dive Sites – As the sun sets, board the boat and head to one of Playa del Carmen’s reefs.
  • Night Dive – Explore the reef at night with flashlights, spotting nocturnal marine creatures.
  • Return to Dive Center – Head back to Xico Dive Center

What is the Price of the Night Dive in Playa del Carmen?

The Night Dive is 2000 MXN (≈$108 USD) per person. If you need dive gear, you can rent it for an extra 500 MXN (≈$27 USD).

Is a certification required?
Yes, a minimum of an Open Water certification is required.
What should I bring?
Please bring a swimsuit, towel, and personal items such as a camera, hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen, or dry clothes for after the dive.
Where is the meeting point?
We meet at Xico Dive Center, located on Flamingos Street between 40th Street North and 42nd Street North, in the Zazil-Ha neighborhood of Playa del Carmen.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
No, rental equipment is available for 500 MXN (≈$27 USD). However, you are welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer.
What is the water temperature in Playa del Carmen?
Water temperatures range from 26-29°C (78-84°F) year-round. A 3mm wetsuit is typically sufficient.
What will I see on the dive?
It is possible to see octopuses, lobsters, moray eels, sleeping turtles, and glowing plankton.
What time does the dive start?
The start time depends on sunset times, and we will confirm the exact meeting time when you book.
What is the cancellation policy?

If the reservation is canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the activity date, no cancellation fee will be charged. If the reservation is canceled or modified less than 24 hours before the activity, or in the event of a no show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged.

No cancellation fee will apply if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center due to weather conditions, port closure, or operational reasons, and cannot be rescheduled.

In the case of cancellations due to medical reasons, no cancellation fee will apply only if a valid medical certificate is provided within 24 hours of the scheduled tour time.

For courses that include PADI or other eLearning materials, the deposit is non refundable once the eLearning has been activated or issued. This is because the training materials remain valid and can still be used by the student, whether they continue the course with us at a later date or complete it with another dive center.

If a course or activity must be postponed, we will always do our best to reschedule it according to availability.
