PADI Divemaster Internship in Playa del Carmen
The PADI Divemaster Internship at Xico Dive Center is for divers who want professional-level immersion rather than a compressed holiday course. For three months you work alongside the team and see how diving is actually organized every day.
Learn the Job, Not Only the Skills
You still complete the required Divemaster knowledge, stamina, rescue, mapping and practical assessments, but the internship adds repeated exposure to briefings, equipment handling, student support, guiding, customer service and daily logistics.
A Serious Three-Month Commitment
This is a full-time apprenticeship: approximately six days per week, 07:45-17:00. Basic Spanish and English are required because you will work with an international team and guests. You need your own dive gear and must arrange accommodation and meals.
Course or Internship?
Choose the internship if you want operational experience and can commit to living the dive-center routine for three months. If you mainly want the professional certification on a flexible schedule, Xico’s standard PADI Divemaster course is the better fit.

What is the commitment for the PADI Divemaster Internship?
The internship is a three-month, full-time program built around approximately six days per week, typically 07:45-17:00. Applicants should only choose this route if they can commit to real dive-center operations rather than a short holiday course.
What does the Divemaster Internship cost?
Xico’s internship is structured so the program cost is compensated through the participant’s work during the internship. Because this is an operational apprenticeship rather than a standard retail course, Xico confirms the current terms directly before acceptance.
Do I need my own dive equipment for the internship?
Yes. Interns are expected to have their own basic scuba equipment, including the professional-use items Xico specifies before the program begins. Accommodation and meals are also the participant’s responsibility.
Can I choose my course start date?
Send us your preferred start date. Xico will check the appropriate instructor, training schedule and any required training logistics before confirming the course. Start dates are flexible, but a website request is not an instant booking confirmation.
Do I need medical clearance for scuba training?
Scuba students complete the required diver medical screening. Depending on your answers, physician approval may be required before in-water training. Any external physician or consultation cost is separate unless a course page explicitly says otherwise.
Where do Xico courses meet?
Unless the Xico team confirms a different plan, courses meet at Xico Dive Center in Playa del Carmen. From there we handle equipment, briefings and transport or boat logistics required by the course.
