Description of the Junior Open Water Course:
Your child can learn to scuba dive and earn their PADI Junior Open Water Certification in just three days! This course includes theory lessons, pool training, and open-water dives. With guidance from experienced instructors, young divers will gain the skills needed to dive safely. Once certified, your child can dive anywhere in the world, following specific depth and supervision guidelines! Additionally, they’ll have the opportunity to participate in four open-water dives, practice essential skills, and explore vibrant marine life.

What to Expect:
- Day 1: Pool & Theory (8:15 AM – 12:00 PM) Your child will learn the basics of scuba diving with PADI eLearning, then practice skills in a pool with an instructor.
- Day 2: First Two Ocean Dives (12:30 PM – 3:30 PM) They will explore the reefs of Playa del Carmen on two shallow dives, practicing basic diving skills.
- Day 3: Final Ocean Dives & Certification (12:30 PM – 3:30 PM) Your child will complete two more dives and finish their eLearning to become a certified PADI Junior Open Water Diver!
Price of The Junior Open Water Course:
The PADI Junior Open Water Course is 10000 MXN (≈$571 USD) per child, covering all training, materials, 4 ocean dives, and certification fees. No hidden costs!

What to Bring?

Where to meet?
We meet at Xico Dive Center, located on Flamingos Street between 40th Street North and 42nd Street North, in the Zazil-Ha neighborhood of Playa del Carmen.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
Yes, the minimum age is 10 years old.
Does my child need prior experience to take this course?
No prior scuba diving experience is required, but your child must be comfortable in the water and meet basic swimming requirements.
Where will my training take place?
We have a pool right next door, and the ocean dives take place on the famous reefs of Playa del Carmen.
What is the depth limit for Junior Open Water Divers?
Ages 10–11: Up to 12m/40ft — Ages 12–14: Up to 18m/60 ft
Can my child complete the course in less than 3 days?
While possible to do in 2, we recommend taking at least 3 days to ensure your child has enough time to learn and practice the necessary skills comfortably.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
If the reservation is canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the activity date, no cancellation fee will be charged. If the reservation is canceled or modified less than 24 hours before the activity, or in the event of a no show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged.
No cancellation fee will apply if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center due to weather conditions, port closure, or operational reasons, and cannot be rescheduled.
In the case of cancellations due to medical reasons, no cancellation fee will apply only if a valid medical certificate is provided within 24 hours of the scheduled tour time.
For courses that include PADI or other eLearning materials, the deposit is non refundable once the eLearning has been activated or issued. This is because the training materials remain valid and can still be used by the student, whether they continue the course with us at a later date or complete it with another dive center.
If a course or activity must be postponed, we will always do our best to reschedule it according to availability.
