What to bring
- Swimsuit

Training schedule: Three-day rescue program. Exact scenario order and timing are adjusted to conditions and student progress.
Training logistics: Open-water rescue scenarios use suitable local sites and boat operations selected by the instructor.
Schedule note: Start dates are available subject to instructor availability, student readiness and operational confirmation.
Certification requirements: Training is conducted and evaluated by an appropriately qualified instructor for the agency and course. Certification or recognition is issued only after the applicable course requirements are successfully completed.

PADI Rescue Diver in Playa del Carmen
The PADI Rescue Diver course changes the way you look at every dive. Instead of focusing only on yourself, you learn to recognize stress, prevent problems and respond when another diver needs help.
From Self-Rescue to Full Scenarios
Training progresses from self-rescue and assisted-diver techniques into search patterns, surface management, unresponsive-diver procedures and realistic emergency scenarios. The goal is calm, organized action rather than a collection of isolated skills.

Questions before you book?
What are the prerequisites for PADI Rescue Diver?
For Xico’s current PADI Rescue Diver course, we require Advanced Open Water Diver or an accepted equivalent plus current CPR/First Aid training that meets the course requirements. If your EFR/First Aid is missing or out of date, Xico can arrange the EFR course separately.
Is Rescue Diver mostly classroom theory?
No. Knowledge development supports the course, but the value comes from practical pool/open-water rescue work and realistic scenarios: self-rescue, stress recognition, assisting divers, search techniques and emergency management.
Is the PADI Rescue Diver course difficult?
It is one of the more demanding recreational courses because you combine physical skills, awareness and decision-making. The scenarios are challenging by design, but your instructor builds them progressively and debriefs what worked and what should change.
Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?
Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.
Do I need medical clearance for scuba training?
Scuba students complete the required diver medical screening. Depending on your answers, physician approval may be required before in-water training. Any external physician or consultation cost is separate unless a course page explicitly says otherwise.
What happens if weather or a port closure affects course dives?
If weather, sea conditions or a port closure prevent required ocean training, Xico will first try to reschedule the affected training according to safe conditions and availability. Certification is issued only after the required performance requirements are completed.
