PADI AWARE Specialist in Playa del Carmen
The PADI AWARE Specialist course is for divers and non-divers who want a clearer picture of the major pressures facing the ocean and the practical choices that can reduce their impact.
See the Bigger Conservation Picture
The course connects marine debris, habitat damage, climate pressure, overfishing and responsible ocean use rather than treating each issue in isolation. You discuss where individual actions matter and where broader conservation efforts are needed.

Questions before you book?
Do I need to be a diver for the PADI AWARE Specialist course?
No. This is a non-diving ocean-conservation course and is open to divers and non-divers. No prior scuba certification is required.
Are there any required dives in the AWARE Specialist course?
No. The course is classroom/discussion based. You can add diving separately, but the certification itself focuses on ocean threats, responsible choices and personal conservation action.
How is AWARE Specialist different from Coral Reef Conservation?
AWARE Specialist looks broadly at major ocean issues and what individuals can do, while Coral Reef Conservation focuses more specifically on reef ecosystems, coral threats and reef-friendly behavior. Both are non-diving courses at Xico.
Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?
Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.
Do I need to be a certified diver for this course?
No scuba certification is required for this non-diving course unless the specific course requirements say otherwise. It is suitable for divers and non-divers who meet the stated age or participation requirements.
Can I choose my course start date?
Send us your preferred start date. Xico will check the appropriate instructor, training schedule and any required training logistics before confirming the course. Start dates are flexible, but a website request is not an instant booking confirmation.
