Description of the Project AWARE Specialty Course:

The Project AWARE Specialty is a one-day course for certified divers and ocean lovers who want to make a difference for the planet. Learn about the biggest threats to marine ecosystems and how your actions, both in and out of the water, can help protect our oceans. This course helps you understand how you can be part of the solution and make a positive impact on the environment.

What to Expect:

• Theory Session – You’ll start with a fun classroom session at our dive center. Through interesting materials and group talks, you’ll learn about marine conservation issues like pollution, damage to ocean habitats, climate change, and overfishing.
• Hands-On Action Planning – You’ll work with your instructor to develop your personal ocean conservation action plan, and learn how to get involved in local and global initiatives – from marine debris cleanups to citizen science projects.
• Debrief & Certification – At the end of the session, your instructor will go over what you learned and give you the Project AWARE Specialty Certification. You’ll leave with easy ways to help the ocean and be part of a worldwide group of ocean protectors.
