What to bring

Training schedule: One-day classroom and hands-on training format. The combined route uses an extended training day. Exact start/end time is confirmed with Xico.
Training logistics: No boat or water session is required.

Certification requirements: Training is conducted and evaluated by an appropriately qualified instructor for the agency and course. Certification or recognition is issued only after the applicable course requirements are successfully completed.
Course Details
Emergency First Response Training in Playa del Carmen
Xico offers three Emergency First Response (EFR) routes on one course page: Primary and Secondary Care, Care for Children, or a combined course that completes both training programs. All three are non-diving courses, so no scuba certification is required.
EFR Primary and Secondary Care
Build practical CPR and First Aid skills for everyday emergencies. Training includes knowledge development, hands-on skills and realistic scenarios covering primary care, secondary care, patient assessment and safe assistance until professional help arrives.
EFR Care for Children
Choose Care for Children when you want emergency-care training focused on infants and children. The course uses the applicable EFR learning and practical skill development for child-focused CPR and First Aid situations.
Complete Both in One Extended Training Day
If you want the broadest EFR preparation, choose the combined route. Xico integrates Primary and Secondary Care with Care for Children into one extended training day while keeping the required learning and certification processing for both programs attached to your booking.
Practice Instead of Only Reading
EFR is practical training. After the assigned learning, you work through hands-on skills and scenario-based responses with your instructor so the response sequence becomes familiar before you ever need it in a real emergency.
EFR Before PADI Rescue Diver
Current CPR and First Aid training is required before completing the PADI Rescue Diver path. The Primary and Secondary Care option provides the normal EFR route used for that prerequisite; Care for Children can be added when you also want child-focused emergency training.

Questions before you book?
Do I need to be a scuba diver to take EFR?
No. Emergency First Response is a non-diving CPR and First Aid course and is useful for divers and non-divers. It also satisfies the CPR/First Aid prerequisite used for PADI Rescue Diver when the training is current under PADI requirements.
What will I practice in the EFR course?
You work through practical CPR and First Aid skills, scene assessment, primary and secondary care, shock and injury management, barrier-device use and scenario-based responses designed to make the steps easier to recall under pressure.
How long is EFR useful for PADI Rescue prerequisites?
PADI Rescue Diver requires recent CPR and First Aid training. The current course standard generally treats training completed within the previous 24 months as current; Xico verifies your dates before Rescue training.
What is Emergency First Response Care for Children?
Emergency First Response Care for Children is non-diving CPR and First Aid training focused on emergencies involving infants and children. Xico offers it as a standalone course or as part of the combined EFR route.
Can I combine EFR Primary and Secondary Care with Care for Children?
Yes. Xico offers a combined one-day route covering Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care plus Care for Children. Choose the combined option when requesting availability so the correct eLearning, practical training and certification processing are attached to your course.
Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?
Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.
Can I choose my course start date?
Send us your preferred start date. Xico will check the appropriate instructor, training schedule and any required training logistics before confirming the course. Start dates are flexible, but a website request is not an instant booking confirmation.
Do I need to be a certified diver for this course?
No scuba certification is required for this non-diving course unless the specific course requirements say otherwise. It is suitable for divers and non-divers who meet the stated age or participation requirements.
