Description of the Open Water Course in Playa del Carmen:

Learn to scuba dive and get your PADI Open Water Certification in just three days! This course includes theory lessons, pool training, and open-water dives. With guidance from experienced instructors, you’ll gain the skills to dive safely. Once certified, you can dive anywhere in the world! Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in four open-water dives, practice essential skills, and explore vibrant marine life.

What to Expect:

  • Day 1: Pool & Theory (8:15 AM – 12:00 PM) Learn the basics of scuba diving with PADI eLearning, then practice skills in a pool with your instructor.
  • Day 2: First Two Ocean Dives (12:30 PM – 3:30 PM) Explore the reefs of Playa del Carmen on two shallow dives and practice basic diving skills.
  • Day 3: Final Ocean Dives & Certification (8:30 AM – 12:00 PM) Complete two more dives, then finish your exam with a multiple choice test to become a certified PADI Open Water Diver!

Where to meet?
We meet at Xico Dive Center, located on Flamingos Street between 40th Street North and 42nd Street North, in the Zazil-Ha neighborhood of Playa del Carmen.
What is the Minimum Age for the Open Water Course in Playa del Carmen?
Yes, the minimum age is 10 years old. Divers aged 10-14 receive a Junior Open Water certification with depth restrictions.
Do I need prior experience to take this course?
No prior scuba diving experience is required, but you must be comfortable in the water and meet basic swimming requirements.
Where will my training take place?
We have a pool right next door, and the ocean dives take place on the famous reefs of Playa del Carmen.
Will I be able to dive anywhere in the world with this certification?
Yes! The Open Water certification is internationally recognized and allows you to dive worldwide.
What is the Cancellation Policy?

If the reservation is canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the activity date, no cancellation fee will be charged. If the reservation is canceled or modified less than 24 hours before the activity, or in the event of a no show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged.

No cancellation fee will apply if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center due to weather conditions, port closure, or operational reasons, and cannot be rescheduled.

In the case of cancellations due to medical reasons, no cancellation fee will apply only if a valid medical certificate is provided within 24 hours of the scheduled tour time.

For courses that include PADI or other eLearning materials, the deposit is non refundable once the eLearning has been activated or issued. This is because the training materials remain valid and can still be used by the student, whether they continue the course with us at a later date or complete it with another dive center.

If a course or activity must be postponed, we will always do our best to reschedule it according to availability.
