Course Details
PADI Divemaster Course in Playa del Carmen
The PADI Divemaster course at Xico Dive Center is the transition from experienced recreational diver to dive professional. You refine your own skills while learning how to supervise, brief, assist and think about the needs of other divers.
Train Inside a Working Dive Center
Professional development makes more sense when it happens around real diving. At Xico you combine theory, skill demonstrations, stamina, rescue, mapping and workshops with supervised exposure to course support, guiding and daily dive operations.
Flexible Minimum Two-Week Format
The standard course can be organized around a minimum two-week intensive period or a longer schedule if you have more time. The goal is to meet the professional performance requirements, not rush through a calendar.
Choose the Right Professional Route
If you want the certification with a flexible training schedule, choose the standard Divemaster course. If you can commit three months and want deeper operational immersion, ask about Xico’s full-time Divemaster Internship instead.

Questions before you book?
What are the prerequisites for the PADI Divemaster course?
You must be at least 18, hold Rescue Diver or an equivalent qualification, have at least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 for certification, hold current CPR/First Aid training, and provide the required physician-signed medical clearance.
How long does the PADI Divemaster course take at Xico?
The standard Xico Divemaster course is flexible with a minimum duration of about two weeks. Your actual timeline depends on prior experience, study progress, practical assessments and how intensively you can train.
Can I work as a dive professional after PADI Divemaster certification?
PADI Divemaster is the first professional PADI rating. Once all certification and membership requirements are met, it can qualify you for professional duties within PADI standards, local law and the policies of the operator employing you.
Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?
Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.
Do I need medical clearance for scuba training?
Scuba students complete the required diver medical screening. Depending on your answers, physician approval may be required before in-water training. Any external physician or consultation cost is separate unless a course page explicitly says otherwise.
Can I choose my course start date?
Send us your preferred start date. Xico will check the appropriate instructor, training schedule and any required training logistics before confirming the course. Start dates are flexible, but a website request is not an instant booking confirmation.
