Description of the Divemaster Course:
The PADI Divemaster Course is your gateway into the world of professional diving. Over several weeks, you’ll gain in-depth knowledge of dive theory, polish your dive skills to demonstration level, and learn to supervise and assist in a variety of diving activities. This course will develop your leadership abilities, preparing you for a career in diving or further PADI professional training.

What to Expect:
- Dive Theory & Skill Refinement – Start with recieving your crew pack and in-person sessions reviewing dive physics, physiology, equipment, and the environment. Practice all fundamental dive skills until they’re demonstration-quality.
- Assisting Courses & Guiding Divers – Shadow our instructors and assist in real PADI courses. Learn how to brief, guide, and lead certified divers safely and professionally.
- Practical Assessments & Leadership Training – Take part in workshops on dive site management, rescue scenarios, and emergency planning. Complete your stamina tests, dive mapping project, and final exams. Upon successful completion, you’ll be a certified PADI Divemaster!
Duration is flexible based on your schedule and progress – full-time and part-time options available.
What is the Price of the Divemaster Course in Playa del Carmen?
The PADI Divemaster Course is 28000 MXN (≈$1,600 USD) per person. This includes all training sessions, practical experience, certification, and materials. No hidden costs!

What to Bring?

Where to Meet?
We meet at Xico Dive Center, located on Flamingos Street between 40th Street North and 42nd Street North, in the Zazil-Ha neighborhood of Playa del Carmen.
What are the prerequisites for the course?
To begin a Divemaster course, you must be at least 18 years old, have a Rescue Diver certification or equivalent, and have completed a minimum of 40 logged dives to start the course, with 60 required for certification. You’ll also need CPR and First Aid training completed within the past 24 months, as well as a medical clearance signed by a physician.
Is the course physically demanding?
Yes, the course includes various stamina tests, swimming challenges, and rescue scenarios. A reasonable level of physical fitness and comfort in the water is important to succeed.
Can I work as a Divemaster after the course?
Yes, once certified, you’ll be able to work in the dive industry around the world. Divemasters can guide dives, assist instructors, and help manage dive operations at dive centers or on liveaboards.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
If the reservation is canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the activity date, no cancellation fee will be charged. If the reservation is canceled or modified less than 24 hours before the activity, or in the event of a no show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged.
No cancellation fee will apply if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center due to weather conditions, port closure, or operational reasons, and cannot be rescheduled.
In the case of cancellations due to medical reasons, no cancellation fee will apply only if a valid medical certificate is provided within 24 hours of the scheduled tour time.
For courses that include PADI or other eLearning materials, the deposit is non refundable once the eLearning has been activated or issued. This is because the training materials remain valid and can still be used by the student, whether they continue the course with us at a later date or complete it with another dive center.
If a course or activity must be postponed, we will always do our best to reschedule it according to availability.
