PADI Wreck Diver Course in Playa del Carmen
The PADI Wreck Diver specialty teaches you to approach sunken ships as structured dive sites, not just interesting objects. Xico’s route can use wrecks around Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Puerto Morelos depending on the final training plan.
Six Dives With Four Wreck Training Dives
The current Xico format uses six ocean dives over three days, including four wreck dives. That gives time for site assessment, navigation, line and reel procedures, hazard awareness and repeated practice rather than squeezing the specialty into one wreck visit.
Learn Where Recreational Wreck Diving Stops
Wrecks add entanglement, sharp surfaces, silt, overhead hazards and navigation challenges. The course teaches controlled recreational procedures and limited penetration concepts within agency standards; it is not cave or technical-overhead certification.

Why is the PADI Wreck Diver course price on request?
Xico uses several possible wreck routes in Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Puerto Morelos. Transport, site/operator logistics and the final training plan can change the actual course cost, so Xico confirms an all-in quote instead of publishing a misleading fixed number.
What certification do I need for PADI Wreck Diver?
Xico requires Advanced Open Water or equivalent for its current wreck-course format. Recent experience, buoyancy, medical screening and suitability for the selected wrecks are also reviewed before the course.
Does PADI Wreck Diver teach wreck penetration?
The specialty teaches wreck assessment, line/reel procedures and the hazards involved in limited penetration training within PADI recreational standards. It is not technical overhead certification and does not authorize unrestricted penetration or decompression diving.
Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?
Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.
Do I need medical clearance for scuba training?
Scuba students complete the required diver medical screening. Depending on your answers, physician approval may be required before in-water training. Any external physician or consultation cost is separate unless a course page explicitly says otherwise.
What happens if weather or a port closure affects course dives?
If weather, sea conditions or a port closure prevent required ocean training, Xico will first try to reschedule the affected training according to safe conditions and availability. Certification is issued only after the required performance requirements are completed.
