Description of the Night Diver Specialty Course:

The PADI Night Diver Specialty Course is a great way for certified divers to explore the ocean at night. After dark, the reef looks very different as new animals come out. We see eels swim out of caves, octopuses move around, and turtles sleeping. In this course, You’ll gain confidence navigating and communicating underwater in the dark, master the use of dive lights, and discover how marine life changes after dark.

What to Expect:

Theory Session – Start with a relaxed, in-person theory session at our dive center. You’ll cover equipment for night diving, safety procedures, light usage, buddy protocols, and how to plan a night dive.
3 Night Dives – Over the course of 3 days you will enjoy 3 night dives where you’ll learn to use your light, stay close to your buddy, and navigate with a compass and natural cues. You’ll also get the chance to observe nocturnal marine life, manage any disorientation, and improve your buoyancy and trim for night conditions.
Debrief & Certification – After your final dive, your instructor will review your performance, provide feedback, and award your PADI Night Diver Specialty Certification!

Price of the Night Diver Specialty Course:

The PADI Night Diver Specialty Course is 8000 MXN per person, covering all training, ocean training dives, and certification fees. No hidden costs!

Our meeting point is at our office located at Flamingos Street, between 40th Street North and 42nd Street North, on the corner next to the dive center, Zazil-Ha neighborhood, Postal code 77720 Playa del Carmen, Q.R.

Is certification required?

Yes, you must be at least Open Water certified to join the PADI Night Diver Specialty Course.

What are the benefits of taking this course?

This course lets you explore unique marine life, improve your skills in low light, and gain confidence diving at night, while also offering new challenges and great photography opportunities.

Do I need to complete any theory or exams?

Yes, there’s a bit of independent study to do before the dives. It’s not a full classroom course like the Open Water, but you’ll review some theory—don’t worry, there’s no exam.

What will I learn?

You’ll master the use of lights, communication signals, nighttime navigation, avoiding disorientation, and understanding how to observe and protect marine life during night dives.

Is it scary diving at night?

Not at all! It’s calm, quiet, and magical. With guidance from our expert instructors, you’ll feel secure and confident every step of the way.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

If canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the trip date, no fee will be charged. If canceled or modified later, or in the event of a no-show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged. No fee applies if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center or cannot be rescheduled due to rough sea conditions or medical reasons (if a valid certificate is provided within 24 hours after no-show or cancellation). Under no circumstances, if there is a cancellation and e-learning has been activated, you will not be refunded your deposit for the e-learning.
