Description of the Boat Diver Specialty Course:

The PADI Boat Diver Specialty is a one-day course designed for certified divers who want to learn how to dive from boats safely and confidently. You’ll gain practical knowledge on different types of dive boats, entry and exit techniques, boat safety procedures, and tips for avoiding common boat diving issues.

What to Expect:

  • Theory Session – Begin your course at our dive center with a short class covering boat diving basics, including how to gear up, stow your equipment, manage seasickness, and follow boat safety rules and briefings.
  • 2 Ocean Dives – Enjoy two fun training dives from a boat! You’ll practice proper boat entries and exits, learn how to navigate around the boat’s deck, use mooring and drift line systems, and apply boat-specific dive planning.
  • Debrief & Certification – After the dives, your instructor will give you feedback on your skills and award you your PADI Boat Diver Specialty Certification.

The price of the PADI Boat Diver Specialty Course is 4000 MXN per person, including theory, 2 ocean dives, certification, all taxes, and fees. No hidden costs!

Is certification required?
Yes, you must be at least Open Water certified to join the PADI Boat Diver Specialty Course!
What are the benefits of taking this course?
By taking this course, you will feel confident diving from any type of boat, learn proper entry and exit techniques, efficiently set up and manage your gear on board, improve safety and emergency awareness, access more dive sites only reachable by boat, and receive helpful tips for dealing with seasickness.
Do I need to complete any theory or exams?
Yes, there’s a bit of independent study to do before the dives. It’s not a full classroom course like the Open Water, but you’ll review some theory—don’t worry, there’s no exam.
What will I learn?
You will learn boat terminology and etiquette, how to prepare your gear for boat dives, entry and exit techniques like giant stride, backroll, and ladder exits, the use of lines and surface signaling devices, and how to plan and ensure safety during boat dives.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
If canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the trip date, no fee will be charged. If canceled or modified later, or in the event of a no-show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged. No fee applies if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center or cannot be rescheduled due to rough sea conditions or medical reasons (if a valid certificate is provided within 24 hours after no-show or cancellation). Under no circumstances, if there is a cancellation and e-learning has been activated, you will not be refunded your deposit for the e-learning.
