Diving in Cenote Dos Ojos

Tulum

The Dos Ojos Cenote is a world-renowned destination for divers due to its unique underwater features and exceptional diving opportunities. The name “Dos Ojos,” meaning “Two Eyes” in Spanish, refers to the two distinct sinkholes connected by an extensive system of underwater caves. This cenote is about a 30-minute drive from Xico Dive Center and offers a maximum depth of approximately 32ft/10m. Dos Ojos is famous for its crystal-clear freshwater, providing exceptional visibility that makes it a dream for divers and underwater photographers. The extensive system of underwater caves is a focal point for cave diving enthusiasts, who can explore intricate cave formations such as stalactites and stalagmites while navigating through underground tunnels. The unique lighting, underwater formations, and the surreal feeling of being inside a cave create an extraordinary underwater world. This cenote offers an exciting and memorable underwater adventure, allowing divers to witness the incredible formations created by thousands of years of geological processes. The Dos Ojos Cenote is part of the extensive network of cenotes in the Yucatan, which were sacred to the ancient Maya civilization and often used for rituals and ceremonies. It is a must-visit destination for those with a sense of wonder for the hidden beauty of cenotes and the allure of exploring an underwater cave system.
