Cenote Diving Adventures with Xico Dive Center

Diving in a cenote is a truly special experience. These natural sinkholes filled with freshwater are hidden under the jungle, and each one has something different to offer. At Xico Dive Center, we take you on amazing cenote diving adventures where you can explore crystal-clear water, cave formations, and magical light beams. Whether you’re a new diver or experienced, there’s a perfect cenote trip waiting for you.

One of the most popular trips is two dives in Cenote Dos Ojos, one in the Barbie Line and one in the Bat Cave Line. Dos Ojos is one of the largest and most famous cenotes in Mexico, with over 300 km of cave systems. The water is super clear, and the light coming through the openings above makes everything look like a dream. In the Barbie Line, we follow a path with big open spaces and beautiful rock formations. The Bat Cave Line is darker and more mysterious. With a maximum depth of 10 meters (33 feet), these dives are great for first-time cenote divers and those who enjoy cavern diving.

If you want something deeper, you can try a combo of Cenote El Pit and Cenote Dos Ojos. El Pit is one of the deepest cenotes around, reaching 30 meters (98 feet). As you descend, you’ll see amazing light beams shining through the entrance above, creating a spotlight effect. You’ll also pass through a halocline, where freshwater and saltwater mix, and may see a thin hydrogen sulfide cloud deep below. It feels like diving into another world. After El Pit, we dive again in Dos Ojos to enjoy its clear water and colorful cave formations.

For something really unique, we offer dives in Cenote Angelita and Cenote Car Wash. Angelita is famous for its “underwater river.” At around 27 meters deep, you enter a thick cloud of hydrogen sulfide that looks like fog, with fallen trees rising from the cloud like an underwater forest. It’s one of the most mysterious dives in the area. Then we go to Cenote Car Wash, a shallow cenote with clear water, green plants, and even tree roots hanging into the water. You’ll see small fish, and sometimes turtles. It’s relaxing and full of life.

Another favorite is the combo of Cenote Zapote and Cenote Kin Ha. Zapote is also called “Hell’s Bells” because of its strange bell-shaped formations inside the cave. These rock shapes are like nothing else, and you can only find them here. The dive goes down to 30 meters and is very calm and peaceful. Afterward, we dive in Cenote Kin Ha, which also goes down to 30 meters. You’ll see beautiful rock walls and even ancient clam shell fossils stuck in the stone, making this a great dive for people who love geology and history.

If you prefer shallow dives, we recommend Cenote Taak Bi Ha and Cenote Taak Bi Lum. These two cenotes only go down to 7 meters (23 feet), but they are full of beauty. In Taak Bi Ha, sunlight shines through holes in the jungle above, creating amazing beams of light. The rock formations are stunning, and you may see small cave fish swimming around. Taak Bi Lum is quiet and peaceful, with calm water and beautiful stalagmites. These dives are perfect for practicing good buoyancy and enjoying the calm feeling of cenote diving.
