Description of the DPV Scooter Dives:

On this trip you will explore the reefs of Playa del Carmen like never before with our 2-tank guided DPV scooter dive, designed for certified DPV divers. Using underwater scooters, you’ll cover more ground and experience an exciting underwater adventure. We have the choice of a deep dive and a shallow dive (8:30am – 12:00pm), or two shallow dives (12:30pm – 3:30 pm) depending on your preference. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover the beauty of Playa del Carmen’s underwater world and the Mesoamerican barrier reef!

What to Expect:

  • Meet at Xico Dive Center – Check in, complete paperwork, and get fitted for equipment.
  • Boat Ride to Dive Sites – Head out on the boat for a short ride to the local reefs and a quick briefing on the dive scooters.
  • First Dive – Take your first DPV scooter dive into the colorful underwater world and explore the amazing marine life.
  • Surface Interval – Relax on the boat with water and cookies.
  • Second Dive – Dive into another beautiful reef, discovering more marine life using the DPV scooters.
  • Return to Dive Center – Head back to Playa del Carmen

What is the Price of the Scooter Dives

The Classic 2-Tank Local Dive with Underwater Scooters is 3,000 MXN per person. Rental gear is available for an additional 500 MXN.

Is a certification required?
Yes, you must be a certified diver to join this activity. You also need the underwater scooter specialty.

What to Bring?
1. Swimsuit. 2. Towel. 3. Personal items (camera, hat, sunglasses).

Do I Need to Bring My Own Equipment?
No, rental equipment is available for 500 MXN. However, you are welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer.

What is the water temperature in the cenotes?
Water temperatures range from 26-29°C (78-84°F) year-round. A 3mm wetsuit is typically sufficient.

What is DPV Scooter Diving?
DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle) Scooter Diving means using an underwater scooter to move through the water. It’s a fun and easy way to explore more underwater in less time.

Can I dive with the DPV Scooter if I haven’t dove in a while?
If it’s been over a year since your last dive, we recommend a refresher course before joining.

What is the Cancellation Policy?
If canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the trip date, no fee will be charged. If canceled or modified later, or in the event of a no-show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged. No fee applies if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center or cannot be rescheduled due to rough weather conditions.
