Description of Diving in Playa del Carmen:

On this exciting trip, you’ll explore the stunning reefs of Playa del Carmen. We have the choice of a deep dive and a shallow dive (8:30am – 12:00pm), or two shallow dives (12:30pm – 3:30 pm) depending on your preference. The boat ride is short, taking just 5 to 25 minutes to reach the dive sites. Beneath the surface, you’ll encounter vibrant coral, schools of tropical fish, sea turtles, rays, and moray eels. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover the beauty of Playa del Carmen’s underwater world and the Mesoamerican barrier reef!

What to Expect:

  • Meet at Xico Dive Center – Check in, complete paperwork, and get fitted for equipment.
  • Boat Ride to Dive Sites – Head out on the boat for a short ride to the local reefs.
  • First Dive – Take your first dive into the colorful underwater world and explore the amazing marine life.
  • Surface Interval – Relax on the boat with water and cookies.
  • Second Dive – Dive into another beautiful reef, discovering more marine life.
  • Return to Dive Center – Head back to Playa del Carmen

What is the Price of Diving in Playa del Carmen?

The Playa del Carmen 2-Tank Local Dive is 1,800 MXN per person. If you need dive gear, you can rent it for an extra 500 MXN.

Do I Need to Bring My Own Equipment?
No, rental equipment is available for 500 MXN. However, you are welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer.

What is the water temperature in the Playa del Carmen?
Water temperatures range from 26-29°C (78-84°F) year-round. A 3mm wetsuit is typically sufficient.

What will I see on the dives?
Explore the coral reefs of Playa del Carmen and see marine species like rays, turtles, moray eels, and various fish.

Can I dive in Playa del Carmen if I haven’t dove in a while?
If it’s been over a year since your last dive, we recommend a refresher course before joining.

What is the Cancellation Policy?
If canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the trip date, no fee will be charged. If canceled or modified later, or in the event of a no-show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged. No fee applies if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center or cannot be rescheduled due to rough weather conditions.
