Get ready for an unforgettable dive with Playa del Carmen’s famous Bull Sharks! This special trip includes one exciting dive with Bull Sharks in their natural environment, followed by a relaxing reef dive to explore the famous reefs in Playa del Carmen. You’ll dive with the Bull Sharks under the close supervision of our experienced dive guides. After that, enjoy a second, easier dive in shallow water filled with colorful corals, tropical fish, rays, and turtles.
Trips are available every day from November to March! (Bull Shark season)
What to Expect:
- Meet at Xico Dive Center – Check in, complete paperwork, and get fitted for equipment.
- Boat Ride to Dive Sites – A short ride brings you to the shark site.
- First Dive: Shark Dive – Dive with Bull Sharks and observe them in their natural environment with no baiting or feeding.
- Surface Interval – Rest on the boat with water and cookies provided.
- Second Dive: Reef Dive – Enjoy a relaxed dive on a nearby coral reef, spotting tropical marine life.
- Return to Dive Center – Head back to Playa del Carmen.

Bull Shark season runs from November to March, when these sharks migrate to the warm, shallow waters off the coast of Playa del Carmen.

The Bull Shark dive typically reaches a depth of around 24 m/80 ft.
How close do we get to the sharks?
Very close! However, our experienced guides follow strict safety protocols to ensure a safe and respectful interaction with the Bull Sharks.
Are Bull Sharks dangerous?
Bull Sharks are powerful predators and are often misunderstood. With proper supervision, Bull Shark diving is safe and highly controlled.
Can I dive with the Bull Sharks if I haven’t dove in a while?
If it’s been over a year since your last dive, we recommend a refresher course before joining.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
If canceled or modified up to 24 hours before the trip date, no fee will be charged. If canceled or modified later, or in the event of a no-show, 100% of the prepaid deposit will be charged. No fee applies if the activity is canceled by Xico Dive Center or cannot be rescheduled due to rough sea conditions or medical reasons (if a valid certificate is provided within 24 hours after no-show or cancellation).
