Day 1 Schedule confirmed with Xico

Intro Cave Procedures & First Cave Dives

Review configuration, gas planning, primary-line procedures and emergency drills, then begin the cave-diving progression at the first selected cenote.

Day 2 Schedule confirmed with Xico

Guideline, Team & Emergency Scenarios

Develop consistent trim, propulsion, communication and exit procedures while adding realistic line, light and team problem-solving scenarios.

Day 3 Schedule confirmed with Xico

Integration & Final Evaluation

Complete the required cave dives and bottom time across the course sites, integrate the full skill set and complete the performance evaluation for certification.

TDI Intro to Cave in the Riviera Maya

TDI Intro to Cave is the next step after formal cavern training. It moves beyond the natural-light limits of Cavern Diver while keeping the focus on a single primary guideline, disciplined gas management, team awareness and controlled problem solving rather than complex cave navigation.

Four Cave Dives Across Three Xico Training Days

Current TDI standards require at least four single-guideline cave dives, at least 100 minutes of total bottom time and two different sites. Xico schedules three days to give the student additional time for land drills, repetition, feedback and performance-based progression.

Build Reliability Before Complexity

Training develops guideline procedures, trim and propulsion, light and touch communication, gas planning, lost-line/lost-diver procedures and responses to equipment or visibility problems. The objective is not maximum penetration; it is consistent control within Intro to Cave limits.

Where Xico Trains

The normal Xico plan uses Riviera Maya cenotes such as Chikin-Ha and Tajma Ha for the course progression. Exact sites can change when the instructor needs a different environment for a training objective, student readiness or current conditions.

Questions before you book?

What are the prerequisites for TDI Intro to Cave?

You must be at least 18, or 15 with the required parental consent, and hold TDI Cavern Diver or an accepted equivalent, or be completing the TDI Cavern course concurrently. Xico also checks current cave-training readiness, buoyancy, propulsion, gas management, medical screening and equipment configuration before confirming training.

How many dives are required for TDI Intro to Cave?

Current TDI standards require a minimum of four single-guideline cave dives with at least 100 minutes of total bottom time at two different sites. Xico schedules the course over three days so there is time for academics, land drills, repetition and evaluation rather than compressing the program to the minimum duration.

Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?

Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.

Do I need medical clearance for scuba training?

Scuba students complete the required diver medical screening. Depending on your answers, physician approval may be required before in-water training. Any external physician or consultation cost is separate unless a course page explicitly says otherwise.

Can I choose my course start date?

Send us your preferred start date. Xico will check the appropriate instructor, training schedule and any required training logistics before confirming the course. Start dates are flexible, but a website request is not an instant booking confirmation.
