Training schedule: Five-day technical program using four cenote training days and one ocean training day. Exact dive distribution, depths and sites are performance- and conditions-dependent.

Open-water logistics: The first four days use ground transport to the selected cenote training sites; Day 5 uses Xico’s confirmed ocean boat operation.

Schedule note: Five consecutive or agreed training days are confirmed with Xico according to technical-instructor availability, student readiness, cenote/ocean operations and conditions.

Certification requirements: Training is conducted and evaluated by an appropriately qualified instructor for the course agency.

Course Details

TDI Advanced Nitrox + Decompression Procedures in Playa del Carmen

This five-day Xico program combines the two TDI courses that form the foundation of planned decompression diving: Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures. The training develops gas selection and analysis, oxygen exposure management, technical equipment configuration, decompression planning, gas switching and disciplined staged-ascent procedures.

Minimum Six Training Dives Across Five Days

Current TDI standards require at least six dives when Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures are taught together, with additional dives at the instructor’s discretion. Xico uses four cenote training days and one ocean training day so skills can be repeated in different environments rather than compressed into the minimum number of sessions.

Planned Decompression to a Maximum Training Depth of 45 m / 150 ft

The combined standards allow training to a maximum of 45 m / 150 ft. Actual depths remain an instructor decision and depend on the specific exercise, student performance, gas plan, environmental conditions and any more restrictive limit that applies to the training dive.

The confirmed Xico program includes the technical training configuration, cylinders, required breathing/decompression gases for the planned dives, TDI learning/certification processing and the scheduled cenote/ocean logistics. What are the prerequisites for TDI Advanced Nitrox + Decompression Procedures?

For the combined program you must be at least 18, hold TDI Nitrox Diver or an accepted equivalent, meet the Decompression Procedures prerequisite of SDI Advanced Adventure Diver, Advanced Diver or an accepted equivalent, and show at least 25 logged open-water dives. Will Xico run my course if I am the only student?

Yes. Xico can run its courses with one booked student, so you do not have to wait for us to fill a group. Your requested start date still needs instructor and operational confirmation.

Do I need medical clearance for scuba training?

Scuba students complete the required diver medical screening. Depending on your answers, physician approval may be required before in-water training. Any external physician or consultation cost is separate unless a course page explicitly says otherwise.

Can I choose my course start date?

Send us your preferred start date. Xico will check the appropriate instructor, training schedule and any required training logistics before confirming the course. Start dates are flexible, but a website request is not an instant booking confirmation.
