Phenom places the blade pivot closer to the middle of the foot than many traditional fins. XS Scuba uses that geometry to reduce toe and ankle hyperextension while the channel blade flexes to move water on both halves of the kick cycle.
The foot pocket is intentionally soft, and the supplied Stretch Straps use finger loops and quick-release buckles to simplify donning and removal. Raised ribs under the foot pocket reduce suction when the fin contacts a wet deck. The fin combines composite blade material with thermoplastic-rubber components rather than a single dense rubber body.
